Sweet As Spring- DHD Blog Hop and FREE printable!

Hello everyone!  If you are here from Design House Digital, welcome!  I am so glad to have you "stop" by Sassy Sanctuary and I hope you'll follow along and join my madness.  To the rest of you (so you know whats going on) in order to celebrate the official coming of spring, we at Design House Digital bring you a sweet new blog hop, “Sweet as Spring!”

Start at the Design House Digital blog, and visit a series of blogs belonging to the Design House Digital creative team.   At each blog stop, you will learn something new from one of our Design House Artists and find a "clue."  You will need to follow the hop in order, write down the clues and put all the clues together to form a coupon code for the wonderful "Sweet as Spring" Mega kit!

Isn't it so pretty?!?!

Twelve designers contributed a total of 67 elements, 51 papers, and 4 alpha sets , and this gorgeous kit is a treasure worthy of the journey.  But, in addition, everyone who downloads the kit before Wednesday, March 27, will also be entered into a drawing for a $15 gift certificate to the Design House Digital shop!

But that's not all!  We have a challenge for you, too: build something amazing of your own!  Using just the Sweet as Spring collaboration kit (and your own photos, of course), create your own project and put it into our Sweet  as Spring Challenge Gallery.  If you post your project before April 17, you will be entered into another drawing for a $15 gift certificate to the Design House Digital shop, but the challenge gallery will remain open afterwards, and we would love to see your layouts any time.

If you are new to digital scrapbooking and would like to give it a try.  I use and LOVE the software Scrapbook Max.  You can download a free trial and see what you think.  And be sure to download the "Sweet as Spring" kit so you have some goodies to play around with!  But I have to warn you, once you go ditgital, you'll be hooked!!!

So now for the fun part.  What can you do with the faboulous kit?  Well... you are sure to create may beautiful layouts like this...

But one of my favorite things to do with digital kits is make banners and other "printables".  I've made banners for baby showers and other parties before, but this time I created a "spring" banner for my mantle.  Want to see?

I just love it!  It is such a cute addtion to my spring display.

If you want to make a banner of your own, they are super easy to do.  I just make individual images for each pennant of the banner.  Usually at 4x6, since that is a standard photo size.  Then print them on card-stock, cut them out, punch a couple holes, and string them together using ribbon.

But it gets even easier.  If you want to make MY spring banner, I'm including all the images as a free printable! Just click on each image to view it full size, save each image to your computer, print and assemble!

(FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY!)

I hope you'll enjoy them!

Now, here is my letter  for the coupon code:   D

Jonah's Nursery

(The official almost done reveal)

Well... I've teased long enough.  I'm ready to show you guys Jonah's nursery.  There is still one more thing I plan to do in there, but who knows when I'll actually get around to it.  So without farther ado, here is the almost done nursury.

This is the view right as you walk into the room.  His walls are a "greyish green."  I painted the trees with some good old frog tape and some white paint.  The rocker is from Babies R Us and is super comfortable.  I spend a lot of time in that chair!

As you rotate around you can see the cute mobile I made and the picture frame growth chart.  It looks so much cuter with all those sweet baby pictures in it!

The beautiful crib is the Ashby Crib from Pottery Barn.  It's a discontinued crib that I got from Downeast Home and paid a fraction of the PB price!  I LOVE Downeast Home!

And the bedding... I made it myself!!!  I'm not much of a seamstress and this is by far my biggest sewing project to date.  While time consuming, it was actually pretty easy. (Although I pretty much just winged it the whole time so I cant really give you a tutorial.  sorry!)  The whole room is based off this adorable print, Wonderland in Blue by Monaluna.

I paired it with a bright blue minky, a tone on tone chevron, and red trim.  Its so bright and happy and I just LOVE it!  (The little owl throw blanket I found at TJ Maxx.)

As you continue around the room this is the view from behind the door.  I have my Baby Stats frame and a little coat hook. (Hello kitty!)

And finally as you circle around again you see the changing table and the alphabet banner I made.  The little dresser is also from pottery barn.

And that's it!  I hope you like it!  We are loving it.  Its such a fun space to hang out and snuggle my sweet little man.

(Sorry for the less then stellar photos.  I tried to photograph when the room got the most light, but it just made for weird light and shadows. Bummer.  I really need to work on my photography skills)

I though it would be fun to drop in here every once in awhile to show you guys some of my latest layouts or let you know if they anything fun is going on.

So... here are a couple of my latest layouts that I'm particularly pleased with.

Its been super fun to have the extra push to get some scrapbooking done!

If any of you are interested in going digital I would recommend taking a look at DHD.  Its a great place to find cute kits and they have ton of tutorials on their blog to get you started.  They also have weekly competions you can enter into to win free products!  And if there are any questions I can answer for you please dont hesitate to ask!

Nursery Decor- sneak peek

So I am almost done with Jonah's nursery.  There are two more things I plan to add before I share the whole reveal, but as a little teaser I thought I'd share a couple things I made recently for the room.

First, my neighborhood group got together for a craft night the other day.  One of my neighbors had picked up a 9 opening shadow box frame for us all to do.  I have to admit it took me awhile to decide what to do with it!  But I decided to take it and make a "stats frame" for Jonah.  It turned out super cute!

It started out blank like this... (except not painted)

I then got super lucky and found these wood tiles from Micheal's that fit into each square perfectly.  I love it when things work out like that!

Then I went and found some cute scrapbook paper and printed some sepia newborn pictures of Jonah.  I modge podged the scrapbook paper and pictures on some of the tiles and used vinyl to make a stencil and painted the "stats" on the others.  (Tip:  if you have your pictures printed using a laser printer then you can modge podge without them bleeding. I had mine printed at office max.)

Then you can arrange your tiles.  I ended up using clear silicon to glue each tile in place.

Hang and enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------

I also made Jonah his letters.  I found the wood letters at a local craft store and modge podged more cute paper to them.  (There has been lots of modge podge lately...)

They look so cute on his shelves!

And speaking of cute things on his shelves... aren't these woodland creatures the cutest?!  We found them at Pier1 Imports awhile back.  Love them!

Anyway, that's it for now.  The whole nursery reveal will be coming soon!

Valentines Wreath

Hello Everyone!  I'm back!

One of my new years resolution was to get back on track with this little ole blog here.  I'm already a little late starting but I'm ready.

If you are a newer follower, welcome.  For those who have followed awhile you know that I have a thing for wreaths.  I really enjoy making wreaths.  They are usually quick projects and lots of fun. And I get to put them on my door for everyone to see.  :)

So I had this brilliant idea for a Valentines Wreath.  My hubby gently suggested I just go down to the storage room and use one of the many down there, but whats the fun in that?!  So here is this years Love Day wreath.

Isn't it fun?!  My mom said it looked a little like something out of Victoria's Secret, (and it totally does) but I love it!  I think that it has a very "valentines" look to it without the traditional colors.

And it was very simple to make!

All you do is wrap a black feather boa around a foam wreath form.  Then find some "love note" scrap paper and modge podge it to a heart.  I also added a few jewels and some glitter to the heart.

Add a big old bow and hang the heart from the wreath with a little ribbon.

Then hang and enjoy!

I got all my supplies for this beauty at Micheal's.

So tell me, do you put up wreaths for every holiday?

Meet Jonah!

Jonah Milton
November 13th 2012
7lbs 7oz, 21 inches long

We are in LOVE!

Jonah has been an absolute delight.  He is the sweetest, mellow little baby and has his older siblings (and Mom and Dad) wrapped around his finger.

And yes, he is already a month old and its taken me this long to introduce him to the world.  What can I say, I've spent the last month soaking in the snuggles...

and sleeping.  :)

And while I'm showing off my family, you have to see these amazing pictures of big brother Ezra...

And big sister Ava.

Yes, I have beautiful children.  :)
I'm a little proud.

Thanks so much to Harlow Moon Photography!  I knew I wanted to do professional newborn pictures and couldn't be more pleased.  Ashleigh came to my house and spent over 3 hours capturing these beautiful images.  It was amazing to watch!  Newborn photography is truly an art!  So if any of you are in the Salt Lake City area and looking for a newborn, child, or family photographer, I would highly recommend her!
 AND
Thank you for your patience while I sadly neglected this blog over the past several months.  Turns out pregnancy and blogging didn't mesh well for me.  But I have SO much to share with you guys!  Like Jonahs nursery, our big boy's new room, my basement remodel, our backyard, my sisters house that we've remodeled...and the list goes on.  So even though its been silent here I have still been busy working away.  I hope to start getting caught up after the first of the year and get back into a regular blogging schedule.  I really have missed it!

But in the meantime, I'll be kissing on these cheeks!
